Terziev rearranges buildings from Sofia’s city center into a new symbolic order through photomontage. In King/Party Kong/Headquarters, Superstructure, and Base and Superstructure, he visualizes the Marxist concepts of “base” and “superstructure”. The base encompasses the economic foundation of society - means of production - while the superstructure consists of political, cultural, and ideological formations. The compositions stack significant buildings that have been considered landmarks in the capital - the former Communist Party Headquarters, the Synagogue, the Cathedral, the Mosque, socialist housing blocks - one atop another, evoking the Empire State Building or the Tower of Babel.
